Snow Report – France

The snow has kept falling over the last week, another 25cm fell on Sunday alone.  The forecast is for more snow during the week and clearing on Friday for a fabulous weekend with plenty of sunshine!

If you are lucky enough to be able to get away for one last trip of the season you are in for a real treat. Our staff are reporting great skiing as low at 1600M and claim to have found untracked powder higher up.  If you are tempted to spend a whole season in the Alps why not apply for a job early.

Meribel           80-178cm  – up to 232cm in Val Thorens
Chamonix       82-400cm – The ultimate high mountain resort

French Snow Report

After good snowfalls across France’s ski areas, many resorts are now opening, including Lans en Vercours, La Cluzac and Collet d’Allevard.

many more plan to at least partially open this weekend, including Alpe d’Huez, the Grande Montets at Chamonix, Les Arcs, Meribel and possibly Courcheval.

Already open is Val Thorens, which is reporting 40cm of fresh snow and with more than a metre of snow lying, has one of the deepest bases in the country!

With the tourist offices and chalet companies already offering discounts for MERIBELS’s ‘premier neige’ week, commencing 12th December, many bars are following suit and all day and all night happy hour prices to customers for that week!

For the last 3 years there has been excellent snow cover for the first week of the season, but with early snow this year it’s set to be even better.

Many bars will be involved in the promotion, so watch out for the ‘Happy Semaine’ posters displayed in their windows!
